Information about the CSH

The Cyber Security Hub (CSH) is an important information system of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). It is used to share and manage information on cyber threats, cyber incidents and cybersecurity practices.

The most important information at a glance

The CSH is specifically designed to support authorities and critical infrastructure in Switzerland in preventing, detecting and responding to cyber threats. The CSH is regulated in Art. 74 para. 2 and Art. 74f of the Information Security Act (ISA).

Key features of the CSH:

  • Sharing information: The CSH enables its users to share up-to-date information on cyber threats, security warnings and best practices in a secure and controlled environment.
  • User-centred design: The platform is designed to be user-friendly, with easy navigation to help users quickly find and share relevant information.
  • Collaboration and networking: The CSH promotes collaboration between various stakeholders in the field of cybersecurity, including authorities, private organizations and experts.
  • Regular updates and improvements: The CSH is continuously developed to meet the changing requirements in the field of cybersecurity and to provide users with up-to-date and effective tools.

The CSH plays a central role in the national strategy for strengthening cyber resilience and is an essential element for a comprehensive and coordinated response to cyber threats in Switzerland.

Who is the Cyber Security Hub (CSH) targeted at?

Operators of critical infrastructure

The Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) defines which organizations are considered critical infrastructure:

Service providers of the operators of critical infrastructure

Service providers of the operators of critical infrastructure that are relevant for cyber security can also be included after consultation with NCSC.

Public

Information on vulnerabilities and available patches is available to the public on the CSH homepage. This information can be accessed without registering with the CSH.

Which specialists within the organizations should have access to the Cyber Security Hub?

The CSH, in particular the exchange of information moderated by the NCSC, is not accessible to the public. This information is targeted at employees of registered organizations in the following roles:

  • IT security specialists, cyber security specialists, etc.
  • Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Security Officer (CSO), etc.
  • Employees of the organisations' Security Operations Centre (SOC) (or similar units)

The information published on the CSH regarding current cyber threats, security warnings, vulnerabilities and best practices is mostly in English. In-depth IT knowledge is also a key requirement for understanding and appreciating such information.

How do specialists access the Cyber Security Hub?

Part of the CSH is publicly accessible and discloses publicly available information. However, to access privileged information and be able to report cyber attacks, users must have a user account. There are two pre-requisites fo a user account:

  • You need to provide an identity by registering to eIAM and selecting your preferred identity provider (AGOV, EDU Login, etc.).
  • Your organization must be registered to the CSH and you must become a member of it. (users register as member of their organization, not as individuals)

How do I provide an identity?

Please visit the CSH homepage, click “Login” and follow the indications you see on screen to register to your preferred identity provider (AGOV, EDU Login, etc.).

I am working for an organization already represented on CSH: How do I become a member of my organization?

You shall verify if your organization is already registered to the CSH or not. You may ask your CISO, members of your SOC or other people from the IT-Service. Get in touch with the registered person who is the Organization Manager for your organization. This person is enabled to trigger an invitation for you. That invitation contains all the information needed to register.

I am working for an organization which is NOT represented on CSH : How do I register my organization?

If your organization is not already registered, you first need to provide an identity (see first question above). Once registered to an identity provider, you will be in a “pre-registered” state and get access to the organization registration form by clicking on “Register my organization” where the “Login” button used to be.

If you encounter any problems while submitting the request, please contact:
useraccounts@ncsc.admin.ch

I logged in, yet I don’t see any information, what do I do?

You have successfully registered to an identity provider (AGOV, EDU Login, …) and you are now pre-registered. Please see the questions above on how to become a member of your organization or to register your organization.
