OECD Working Party on Digital Security
On 23 November 2021, the Working Party on Digital Security of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) appointed Florian Schütz, the Federal Cybersecurity Delegate, as its new Chair. Mr Schütz will formally start in this position as of 1 January 2022.
The OECD Working Party on Digital Security (WPDS) was established in 2019 to develop policy analysis, practical guidance and recommendations to build trust in digital transformation, and to support the resilience, continuity and safety of critical activities. The WPDS aims to increase digital security with a particular focus on the management of digital security risk to economic and social activities, and on the improvement of digital security in products and services. The analytical reports and Recommendations developed by the SDE are internationally recognised as best practice and are widely respected.
The SDE comprises the 38 OECD Members as well as the European Union, partners and non-governmental stakeholders from the business, civil society and technical communities. The WPDS reports to the Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP), which in turn reports to the OECD Council.
OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting 2022
The OECD Digital Economy Ministerial Meeting was held on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria on 14 and 15 December. At the event, government officials from fifty different countries, including Switzerland, met with business leaders and civil society representatives to discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, data governance, the future of connectivity, cybersecurity and human rights in the digital age. The gathering concluded with the adoption of two ministerial declarations and a series of recommendations on cybersecurity.
